Easter Hats & Suits

We had a great Easter!  On Saturday, I made a ham, funeral potatoes, and my family's traditional pink cottage cheese salad; and then we headed over to Richard's parents' house.  One of Richard's brothers and his family joined us over there for the great feast.  Besides the great food, we also had a little egg hunt inside (due to the rain) and also had a spiritual message.  Nelson had fun with cousins and there was just enough left-overs for Richard's parents and us for dinner the next day!
On Easter Sunday, we started the day getting our Easter hats (remember, we get new hats instead of baskets).  The boys got matching ties and sunglasses, and I got a cheap, little MP3 player to use while exercising.  

I had fun dressing everyone up for Easter Sunday!  I bought Nelson's baby blue three-piece suit over a year ago when we were buying my sis's wedding dress at a store going out of business.  I got a great deal on it and have been waiting patiently for it to fit him.  I also had lots of patience with Richard's new suit.  He got a new suit for Christmas, but it was sized wrong.  Almost four months, three suits, and hemming the pants(done by my Mom during conference last weekend) later; Richard has an Easter-err-Christmas suit!  Here the boys are showing off their matching ties:

Yep, He's Ours!

Lately, people have been telling me how much Nelson is looking like Richard. I'm glad he is looking like his Dad since he was born looking like my family. It's fun to see him grow, but the funnest part is to see his little personality start forming. It's great to see his likes and dislikes and how he is like us that way.

The picture above is what I found one morning after taking my shower. He sure is his Dad's boy this way. First of all, neither one of them has any concept of what is a "breakfast" food and what is not. No matter what time it is, Richard likes his food, Chex mix being his favorite snack. Obviously Nelson seems to like it as well.

This next picture I snapped this morning. Nelson loves books! He definitely gets this from his Dad since I have a hard time reading anything other than the Book of Mormon. In the picture he is flipping through the Joseph Smith manual for Sunday School. This has been his favorite book this week. He prefers it over any other book in our room. Richard's favorite type of book is Church History, so Nelson is studying up to have a good conversation with his Dad later on.


I had to throw in another picture from ShamRock. Nelson was just so cute with the microphone and dancing away. He gets this from me. Nothing is better than planning parties and entertaining people. Nelson and I often groove to all types of music together. As of late, his favorite song is "Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes".


Most people would not guess from looking or observing me, but I come from a sporty family. I grew up watching all sports. I really do appreciate the athleticism although I do not participate in them. Richard is far from a sporty person, so I am pretty sure Nelson gets his love for sports from me. Well, I am the person that taught him how to throw a ball, kick a ball, and yesterday with the help of our neighbor, Bradley, he learned to hit a ball. I got him the cute little tee-ball set (shown below) the other day at the Toys-R-Us sale. I thought he would be too young to appreciate it, yet, but it would be a good summer activity in a couple of months. I was wrong. After showing and helping him a few times, he put the ball on the stand and tried to hit it by himself. Of course, he doesn't have perfect posture or hold (he hits it with one hand now), but he's learning. So cute!


Here he is getting ready to throw the football to me... or hike it! I love that he likes boy stuff. I was worried he would be too girly hanging out with me all of the time, but he loves balls, cars, and all of the things that make boys so much fun. I really had no idea how great little boys were until now. It makes me want to have another one! (No, that was not an announcment!)

I just checked my friends, the Carver's, blog to see how their little girl is doing (she spent the night in the hospital because of dehydration from the flu) and realized Britt had tagged me. Sometimes I don't do tags. I did this one only because it was easy. Here are the rules:

I have photo booth on our imac, so it took the picture for me. Yes, Nelson is sleeping in my arms. I guess it's naptime!

UPS Truck

Question.
Why does the UPS truck have to honk at every stop? Why does it have to honk at all? It's not like we can't hear it coming down the street. I know it brings packages to us and all, but why the honking? Especially during nap hours! Most of the time Nelson sleeps right through the honking. Sometimes he wakes up. Today is one of those sometimes days. I was just getting used to the three hour long naps. I will have to deal with the hour-and-a-half nap today.... those neighbors getting good stuff in packages might have to suffer, though... ;0)
