My 15-month-old Rockstar!

I snapped this picture this morning, right after Nelson woke up. Cool hair, dude!

Last Friday I took Nelson to his 15-month check-up.  It was a great success!  No, Nelson still cried when he got his shots, but I felt like the doctor really listened to my concerns about Nelson's chronic cough and congestion.  I had taken Nelson in twice since his year check-up, and the doctor practitioners kept saying it was a cold and we can't do anything for him.  A three-month cold where he throws up at least twice a week, constantly coughs, and sounds like Darth Vader when he breathes?  Anyway, the doctor gave a prescription for an antibiotic because he believes it is a bad sinus infection.  He also gave us the go ahead to have blood drawn to test for food allergies, with my prompting.  The test results came back negative for a milk allergy (which I was hoping for because Nelson loves his milk), but he does have a small allergy to eggs and nuts.  Nothing serious but something to remember.  So, hopefully it is just a sinus infection and the medicine clears him up because I always feel bad when he is at a play group and he starts coughing like he has Tuberculoses (I know I am his mother and have always sounded like I have some horrible disease, but I want the other moms to feel like it is safe for their children to play with mine).  Other than that, he is a normal, growing boy.  He is 32" long and 23 pounds.  His head is still small (in the 10%).  But, our little guy is growing up and learning new things every day.  He is so fun (not so much yesterday since I think his canines are coming in) to play with and laugh with!  We love you, Nelson!

Nelson & Karver started a Rock Band a couple of weeks ago, right in my own living room. They haven't chosen a band name, yet, so suggestions are welcomed! Notice, Karver had the awesome hair that day.

True Love

Okay, I finally have time to reveal the answers to the polls... I know all of you have been waiting around all day for this moment to come, but Richard has been working on my V-day gift all day long! Anyway, down to the answers...

Question 1: Who said "I love you" first?

I'm pathetic, I know, but I really cannot keep my emotions and feelings inside at all! I, JEANNE-MARIE, said "I love you" first. But it wasn't my fault, though, Richard had to play his cards just right to make me go crazy! First of all, when we first dated in California, we knew it would be short-term and not serious because I was moving in a couple of months to Las Vegas. Well, a few days before I moved, he broke up with me (we had agreed on just dating until I moved and then it would be off) which of course drove me wild. Then when he broke up with me, he said, "I wish that I had had a real chance with you." Then a couple months down the road when we saw each other again, he tells me, "I have tried really hard to get over you, and I thought I was doing a good job. But, as soon as I saw you, I knew I wasn't. I'm not over you. I still want that chance." Okay, who's heart would not melt to that? So, after a month-and-a-half of talking on the phone multiple times a day and a in-person visit, he leaves a lull in the conversation just long enough for it to hit me - I love this guy! So, I just say it. And, what does he say in return? Nothing! He returned those three words to me a couple of days later after he flew to Vegas. He used the "in person" excuse for waiting a few days...

Question #2: Who never had a significant other on Valentine's Day until we were engaged?

Once again, that would be me, JEANNE-MARIE. It's really funny (now) because although I had four serious-ish boyfriends, I wasn't dating any of them on Valentine's Day. I started dating two of them during summer or Fall semester, and they broke up with me right before Christmas. The other two I started dating after Valentine's, and they both broke up with me on July 1st (Richard is included in this one). For Richard, he only had one serious girlfriend but dated her for ten months in which included Valentine's Day.

Question #3: Who has spent the most money on the other person for Valentine's Day gifts?

You would think that I spend the most money, but it goes to RICHARD hands down. Now there is a couple of reasons for this. I love to give gifts and plan for weeks in advance to have the perfect gift. I listen to what he says he wants and likes and plan from there. Well, Richard says he never knows what I will like so at the last moment, he goes to the store and buys a bunch of different things(for example, last year he gave me two watches, a statue, a skirt, and an exercise bike), hoping I will like something. I don't think I'm that hard to shop for, but he does. He also gets this hands down because of the help of my sister, Lora. The Valentine's Day before we got married, he asked my sister to help him get presents for me. She took him to a jewelry store and told him to buy me my wedding jewelry. A pearl necklace, ring and earrings later, he had set me up with beautiful jewelry for our wedding and cleared out his bank account!

What We've Been Up to Lately...

 

My sister-in-law, Kristi, told me I was a slacker on posting things to my blog so here is a little update on what we've been doing the past couple of weeks. 

The picture above was taken at the BYU-Wyoming basketball game the last weekend of January.  My friend, Lacey, came and stayed with us, so we hit up the basketball game and BYU.  Our neighbors, the Carver's, met us there and we stayed until the kids were too hungry/antsy to stay any longer.  Nelson liked all of the noise, action, and people for about twenty minutes and then he was entertained by snacks.  It was fun to see Lacey and hang out with the Carver's outside of our little neighborhood.

On Wednesday, Nelson and I took a trip down to my parents'.  My Mom had foot surgery last week, so we went to help out.  Nelson had fun exploring a new house and playing with his cousins, Destiny and Michael.  We came back a day early (Saturday) because of the bad weather and some how Richard sleeps in and forgets about responsibilities when I am not around.  He missed us and we missed him, so we were happy to get back to our home.  It was great to see my parents and give Nelson one-on-one time with them.  One cute Nelson story: The first night we got there, my Dad was a little excited and kept saying, "Nelson. Nelson. Nelson."  Well, after hearing his name about a dozen times, Nelson turned around and said, "Grandpa. Grandpa."  See, he can play the name game, too, Grandpa!

So, that is our non-exciting catch-up.  We will try to do something more exciting this next weekend and remember to take pictures.  Some of our friends from California will be staying with us with their three boys, and we always do dress-up karaoke when they come into town.  So, expect great things next week.
